So the past few days have found me running around this fair city quite a bit for different reasons (note: Argentine immigration is ridiculous) so I’ve fallen behind on my posts. Also, due to the fact that whenever I was out and about I was basically running to my next destination I didn’t really pay as much attention as usual to bloggable sights. I will say this however, the Argentine government needs to give the subway workers whatever they want. I’m seriously sick of them going on strike. Yesterday I had a 45 minute bus ride followed by a short cab ride to get somewhere that would have taken me about 20 minutes on the subway. Seriously, the city goes batshit crazy when the subway is shut down (yesterday the subway workers went on strike from 11am to 11pm). But, at least while I was waiting for the bus I was privileged enough to experience the most spell-binding mullet ever. The guy was about 35 years old and had a curly mullet that fell halfway down his back. I was in such awe that I couldn’t stop staring which of course led Fabio to believe I thought he was muy sexy.
Hair styles here run the gamut of creative 80’s spins to simply ridiculous. Interestingly this is more apparent with men. The vast majority of Argentine women have long, slightly wavy hair with no bangs (the biggest exception are the flogger girls, but that’s another story). However, what the women lack in creativity the men more than make up form. Mullets, rat tails, dreadlocks or a combination of all three are not uncommon. Seriously, the height of male hair fashion here seems to be a shortish mullet that ends in either three skinny rat tails or dreadlocks. And people stare at me because I’m blond.
